10 seconds between the switching.
A choice should be done between conventional capacitor
groups and capacitor groups with static switching contactors depending on the
loads of the plant.
Conventional capacitor groups are used in industrial plants
where changes of loads are slow and no high sensitivity is needed for voltage
flactuation.
Too much delay is needed for discharge of the conventional
capacitors in each step. Therefore, it takes 2 minutes for all capacitors to be
switched on in 12 steps system.
Contacts of contactors can switch upto 100.000 times. This
means contactors should be replaced by new ones in every two years. In such of
replacement there is cost of component and laborship.
Each phase is controled by trigger circuit in capacitors
with static switching contactors.
By this way, each phase is controlled
independently.
